A Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

Land-based aquaculture, where fish are raised in controlled environments on land, is gaining traction worldwide for its sustainable approach to seafood production. Due to water circulation in which the water gets filtered while the waste can be reused, for example as fertilizer, a stable water quality is ensured. Moreover, this saves resources and reduces the impact on local water sources.

LAXEY is deeply committed to responsible food production, and its partnership with BAADER reflects this ethos.

"We are excited about this partnership with BAADER, a leader in technological solutions for the seafood industry," said Kristmann Kristmannsson, Project Manager for Processing and Procurement at LAXEY. "This agreement lays the foundation for a successful collaboration, and we expect it to be the start of a prosperous relationship that will help strengthen the Icelandic land-based aquaculture sector."

Advanced Technology for High-Quality Salmon Processing

BAADER’s equipment is designed to ensure that fish are processed humanely, using advanced stunning and bleeding technologies that minimize stress and improve the overall quality of the final product. For LAXEY, which aims to meet the stringent standards of the international market, partnering with BAADER ensures their salmon will be processed using some of the best equipment available.

"Our equipment will ensure they meet the strict quality requirements demanded by the international market,"

noted Karl Ásgeirsson, Sales Manager at BAADER Iceland.

By investing in BAADER’s machinery, LAXEY is positioning itself to deliver premium products to global customers, while adhering to sustainable practices that align with its environmental values.

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

LAXEY and BAADER are committed to ensuring that every part of the fish is used efficiently, aligning with BAADER’s "Towards 100% Fish" approach by enabling customers to make the most of their resources. This philosophy seeks to minimize waste and contribute to a more sustainable supply chain. As BAADER's equipment sets the stage for highly efficient processing, the partnership aims to provide downstream customers with perfectly prepared salmon that can be fully utilized.

"This commitment strengthens our collaboration and shows that together, we are taking responsibility for an environmentally-friendly future,"

Ásgeirsson emphasized. The partnership also underscores BAADER’s long-term commitment to the Icelandic market.

Scalability and Long-Term Vision

Although LAXEY has initially acquired two machines from BAADER, the agreement is seen as just the beginning of a broader collaboration. Both companies have emphasized the scalability of the processing solutions, which can be tailored to meet LAXEY's future growth plans.

Strengthening Iceland’s Role in Global Aquaculture

This collaboration is not only important for LAXEY and BAADER but also for Iceland’s burgeoning land-based aquaculture industry. As demand for sustainable seafood continues to rise globally. Iceland’s abundant natural resources, combined with the use of cutting-edge technology and a focus on environmental stewardship, provide a solid foundation for growth.

This agreement signals the beginning of a strategic partnership that could reshape the future of Icelandic aquaculture, driving innovation, sustainability, and growth for years to come.
