Ragnar has been with SKAGINN 3X for more than eight years. As one could expect from an Icelander, Ragnar spent all his life and professional career in the fishery on and offshore. He has been working as a boat builder, engineer, and captain onboard, and was the owner of fishing company Ísbrá. Ragnar studied mechanical engineering, aquaculture science and fishery science. Besides his role as Director of Sales at SKAGINN for the European markets, he is the key specialist and sector responsible for wild-catch species on-land and on-board as well as farmed whitefish within the BAADER group.
Finn Wiethölter joined BAADER in 2013 as an industrial clerk apprentice. The After Sales Department was where he landed his permanent position after finalizing his traineeship in 2016. In 2021, he became part of the salesforce team as Product Specialist. He now is responsible for supporting the sales organization as application expert for fish processing machinery. In this new role, Finn Wiethölter drafts project profiles for potential new product developments, conducts customer surveys and teaches our sales staff about new products – all while keeping an eye on the market to see what new developments are out there.

Hendrik Haase is a publicist, communication designer, consultant and speaker. Haase speaks and writes about food, food culture and an enjoyable future in times of digital and ecological change. He accompanies institutions, politics and business on the path to successful communication and innovation and is considered one of the best-known German food activists. In 2021, he published the book FOOD CODE, which deals with the digital revolution along the supply chain.

Jónmundur has been with SKAGINN 3X for 20 years. He studied both mechanical and industrial engineering. Jónmundur started his career with SKAGINN 3X in the production and installations. He then moved over to the technical department in 2007 and has been a technical manager for the last 10 years. Today, he is Director of Pelagic Solutions. He is the key specialist and sector responsible for pelagic solutions on-land and on-board.

Marc has been with BAADER for almost 37 years, starting his career in Production Management, he served as Head of Industrial Engineering and Head of After Sales. Currently, he acts as Regional Director Sales MEA, India, China & Asia Pacific, AUS/NZ, taking care of business development with a special focus on warm water and tropical species. The studied engineer does so through sales networks and marketing activities such as trade shows. Whenever there is time left, he likes to do offshore sailing and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Georg Baunach is a molecular biotechnologist with a background in synthetic biology, biofuels, photovoltaic as well as insect and algae-based products. He holds a master’s in management from London Business School. He is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Hatch, the world’s first early-stage aquaculture and alternative seafood VC and startup accelerator. Hatch has operations in Norway, the US, Ireland, and Singapore and a portfolio of 39 investments globally. Within his role at Hatch, Baunach was the leading contributor in the formation of Alune Aqua and Umami Meats, two companies active in the shrimp farming sector and in the production of media for cell-based seafood production, respectively.

Christian completed his master’s degree in Industrial Engineering while working at BAADER. From consulting and project design to line control and contract negotiation, Christian is a true expert around salmon processing solutions. He knows how to deal with complex projects and how to simplify processes. As much as he enjoys traveling abroad for his job, he appreciates living near the Lübeck office to have more time to train for his next triathlon.
As a member of the BAADER R&D department in Lübeck, Mirko Pagels impacted the development of the BAADER 101 and the BAADER 867 and was a driving factor in finding new, innovative solutions for the whitefish filleting solution BAADER 582. In 2017, he became Manager, Research and Development and has no intention to slow down his creative spirit. He travels a lot for his job and supports our customers and colleagues around the world. As a passionate kitesurfer, it should come as no surprise that he has a natural affinity to water.

Henning Pedersen joined BAADER in 2009 and has more than 25 years of experience within food automation and food production software. As Managing Director for BAADER Logistix, he provides production software to optimize and control production from fish to final product with full traceability. He believes that collaboration and an open information flow is key to reach the next level of food production. As a team-player, he considers BAADER as family. With his wife and kid, he shares a passion for horses, enjoys dressage riding and travelling.

He must have gained his hard-working attitude by making its way to his Master of Business and Engineering by starting with an apprenticeship before going back to school to finish his A-levels. As a Sales Manager, he offers high customer orientation and ca go the extra mail to meet their needs. He is married with three kids.
Sigurður is an industry veteran with over 30 years' experience in the chilling and freezing solutions industry. He enjoys working closely with my clients in finding a solution that best suits their production. The SKAGINN 3X IQF and plate freezing for the food processing industry are his specialty. Spending most of my time on the road visiting customers and acquiring new projects, he knows how to foster client relationships and is renowned for solving even the most complex sales and services issues. As the protagonist of the successful Cold Facts campaign from SKAGINN 3X launched in 2020 he promotes the wide range of innovative chilling and food processing solutions, that now fully belong to the BAADER product portfolio.
“Fin-to-gill” means to utilize the entire fish – a consumer trend that also ought to be a standard in the fish industry, argues Dr Thor Sigfusson, founder of the Iceland Ocean Cluster. There is much more potential for ecological and economic improvements than we might have thought, as he shows in our ID Special on “Collaboration”.

Dr Thor Sigfússon, is an Icelandic entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, Grandi Food Hall, Hlemmur Food Hall, Codland, Collagen and several other start-ups in seafood related industries. In recent years, Thor has been expanding the Ocean Cluster network. Currently, five sister clusters are up and running in the United States and one startup sister cluster is operating in Norway. Thor has published eight books on subjects as different as business and salmon. He has a PhD in entrepreneurial networks and better utilization of fish resources. Thor is a well-known speaker and has been key speaker on various seafood related conferences all over the world including Abu-Dhabi, US and South-Korea.

Fish frames, trims, downgrades, or bycatch do not have to be discarded at high costs or sold at low margins. Instead they can be further processed and by that create additional value beyond sustainability.

Arnþór brought with him many years of entrepreneurial expertise and higher management when he joined SKAGINN 3X more than two years ago. After having held several CEO positions in Iceland and founded companies such as Gannet Business Consulting, he considers working hard more like a hobby and lifestyle than an obligation. Always in search of involving people and strengthening team spirit, he never loses his positive attitude and focuses on producing results. These qualities prove especially beneficial in his role as overall Product Specialist for cross-industry technologies such as chilling, thawing, bleeding and pumping within the wide BAADER product range.
Bashkim Mustafa has been with BAADER for about eleven years. After completing his training as an industrial mechanic, he travelled all over the world to meet customers and support them as a service technician. He then decided to complete his mechanical engineering degree while building up the Refiner product range in Lübeck. Having worked with Refiners most of his career, they have become part of his DNA. Bashkim Mustafa’s expertise focuses on the BAADER Refiner 600 to the BAADER Refiner 608. Besides Refiners, he is passionate about his motorbike – which he drives, whenever he gets a chance.
Andreas Tobey is an educated master butcher and holds an engineering degree in food technology and processing. So, if anyone knows something about protecting meat quality during processing, it is him. Since 2018, he works at BAADER in Sales with our Refiner portfolio. This can be fish but also everything else. With his expertise Andreas Tobey helps explore how the Refiners can be applied and what they are capable of, especially looking at co-product handling and value creation.
Dr Pia Meinlschmidt holds a diploma degree in food biotechnology and food process engineering, as well as a PhD in innovative food processing engineering. She left her academic career where she worked among others at the Fraunhofer Institute to join BAADER in 2017. Today, as Technology Manager, she focuses on projects in relation to the fishing industry and processing concepts for full utilization of marine raw material to achieve 100 percent utilization and zero waste management. Her know-how even goes beyond the fishing industry, as Pia Meinlschmidt is an expert on alternative proteins, and everything related to food processing. When she’s not doing research, she loves to dance ballet.

Marvin Friedrichs works in After Sales for the international remote customer support – where he is responsible for finding solutions for challenges customers come across, focusing on downtimes and failure diagnostics. He started his career at BAADER in 2009 with an apprenticeship in mechatronics, building on this education with further training in energy and automation technology. His focus is on electronic, automation technology, and software. Going forward at a fast pace is also something he loves to do outside of work when he explores the outskirts of Lübeck on his running bike.
