Machine Highlight: SEAC FPM-400

SEAC FPM-400: Versatile and Efficient Small Fish Processing Machine

The SEAC FPM-400 combines the best features of the SEAC FPM-200 nobbing machine and the SEAC FPM-350 filleting unit, delivering outstanding performance and easy maintenance. Built with modern materials, the SEAC FPM-400 meets all European quality, safety and hygienic standards. This machine is capable of processing various fish species with similar body shapes, such as herring, smelt, sardine, and sardinella. When the filleting unit is turned off, the SEAC FPM-400 operates in HG+T mode (head, gut, and tail). When the filleting unit is activated, it produces either butterfly fillets or single fillets for larger fish. With a processing capacity of 150 to 320 fish per minute, depending on tray size and operator skill, the SEAC FPM-400 offers exceptional efficiency for your fish processing needs.
The SEAC FPM series is used by processors around the world and has set a remarkable world record in the processing of small sprats.

During 2019 SEAC made the WORLD RECORD in smallness by, in their SEAC FPM-400 fillet and belly-cleaned small sprats of 5-6 gram full weight!

The SEAC Story

From Swedish Roots to Global Leadership: The Evolution of SEAC AB

SEAC AB has a rich history rooted in innovation and expertise in fish processing. Its origins trace back to two Swedish companies, ARENCO and KM, which were pioneers in manufacturing machines for pelagic fish from the 1940s to 1980. During this time, RUDOLF BAADER GmbH, a German company, was a leader in fish processing technology, having started a bit earlier, in 1919. Until the mid-1970s, BAADER had little competition in the market for white fish and salmon processing machines. However, when ARENCO began developing similar technology, BAADER acquired ARENCO in 1980. This acquisition indirectly led to the rise of two Swedish competitors — VMK FISH MACHINERY in Gothenburg and NORDEN SEAFOOD MACHINERY AB in Kalmar — both formed by former ARENCO staff.

In 1989, VMK acquired NORDEN and closed it down. Then, in 1992, SEAC was founded by Ulf Groenqvist, a former export manager at NORDEN. SEAC quickly became known as the only company capable of providing the same guarantee on fully renovated ARENCO or VMK machines as on brand-new ones, thanks to its deep expertise and history with both brands.

From 2000 to 2002, ARENCO in Kalmar made a comeback by purchasing VMK Fish Machinery, which was then owned by the American company PISCES. However, by 2010 to 2012, SEAC decided to shift its focus from refurbishing old machines to developing its own brand-new fish processing machines, the FPM series. This decision was driven by two main factors: the dwindling supply of old machines and the European Union's restriction on grants for refurbished machines, favoring only new equipment.

Recognizing a gap in the market for machines designed for smaller fish (approximately 25 fish per kilogram or less), SEAC redeveloped the designs of the former ARENCO/NORDEN machines. They drew from the proven technology of ARENCO-KM’s CIS-N and SFD-300 models, which boasted over 50 years of experience in fish processing. The result was the SEAC FPM series, a modern line of fish processing machines now installed worldwide. By 2019, over 100 units were in operation.

In 2019, SEAC set a world record for processing the smallest fish ever handled by their machines. The SEAC FPM-400 filleted and belly-cleaned sprats weighing just 5 to 6 grams each, demonstrating unparalleled precision and innovation.

As of 2021, SEAC operates as a part of the BAADER Group, continuing its legacy of excellence in fish processing technology.
